A WATCH TOO MANY

Earlier this year I went to see a man with an intriguing voice play his guitar and sing some songs, his name was and still is Tom Brosseau. As intriguing as his voice was the fact that he had two watches on his arm. I tried to let it slide but I couldn’t forget about it and so brought it up when I met him later that night. Tom was reluctant to give me a straight answer and suggested I email with the promise of an explanation in return.

Amongst many other very interesting facts here is what he had to tell me….

“So here we are, Swatches. The first time I fell in love with a woman was a very long time ago. We had a babysitter. Her name was Lisa. My falling in love with her was quite a natural thing. She was the closest thing to a mother, yet she was nearer to my own age, with the same amount of imagination, and she had a perm. Lisa was a definite product of the 80's, from the French roll at the jeans to the curling of shoelaces. Things meant something to her, though she not necessarily did everything for a reason, and she wore 3 Swatches around her wrist, and there you go. To Lisa: the first gal to teach me to be deliberate, but not necessarily for any reason.”
